How To Treat Vaginal Thrush?

Vaginal thrush is a type of infection which is quite common among women. It is a casual thing and doesn’t necessarily need a striking reason to initiate. It is so highly prevalent that every four out of five women have it at some stage of their lives.

Vaginal thrush is also commonly known as “vaginal yeast infection”.  The scientific name of this infection is candidal vulvovaginitis. The main reason why anyone can have it has just one reason, excessive yeast growth.

Do not feel bad to know that it’s a yeast growing on your highly sensitive area. Under normal conditions, yeast is still there. So there is nothing odd in it. The vagina has a mix of many bacteria and yeast. These microbes are necessary for the vaginal health. There is a balanced condition in which each microbe is set in a proportional number. When this balance is disturbed, yeast grows excessively which is considered as vaginal thrush.

How would you know that you have vaginal thrush? Many of the women don’t even know that there is something going wrong down there. They consider it a normal body reaction or allergy which leaves this condition untreated. For most of the females, it feels like an itch inside vagina or vulva both. In untreated conditions, this itch is severe.

Other serious notions feel like painful urination, burning feeling, thick white vaginal secretions, inflammation of the vagina and the surrounding skin. The infection is caused when you take high potency antibiotics, pregnancy, diabetes, immunity problems, contraceptives or external hormone intake. This infection is not contagious. It doesn’t transmit. It is a minor condition which you can easily treat at home. If the condition persists, you might need to see a doctor.

Following are simple home remedies to get rid of vaginal yeast infection, or vaginal thrush.

Apply The Yogurt

Yogurt has probiotics which balance the microbes on your skin. Applying yogurt to vulva and vagina will reduce the high amount of yeast. How you can do is, take plain, unsweetened yogurt. Take a clean tampon and dip it into yogurt. Insert into the vagina for 1-2 hours. also, apply the yogurt on vulva with a clean hand. After 2 hours clean it with water. Use this twice a day and let it work for you. If you constantly have a vaginal yeast infection, you must also take probiotic supplements in your diet, with the consultation of your doctor.

Take extra virgin coconut oil and apply it to the affected area with hand. Leave it for a couple of hours. use this two to three times a day. the best time to use it is before sleeping. Also, try to add coconut oil in your diet for its healing powers.

The Mother Of All Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is here to help for vaginal inflammation, pain, and yeast infection. ACV is enriched with enzymes which together maintain a healthy ph of the vagina. An unbalanced level of vaginal microbes leads to vaginal thrush, for which ACV helps to recreate the ideal ph of the vagina. It has anti-microbial properties which kill the excessive bacteria, fungi, and yeast at your vaginal canal.

To use ACV for vaginal yeast infection, take 2-3 raw ACV. Dilute it in 2 cups of water and make a solution for washing vagina. Use this solution whenever possible with no more than 4 times a day. you can also use this solution to soak tampon and use it like yogurt dipped tampon. The only difference is that do not insert it for more than 15 minutes as it is highly acidic even in diluted form. You can use this twice a day.

The Soothing Aloe Vera

One of the famous components of all home based remedies is aloe vera. It is a natural healer which inhibit the growth of yeast and other microbes. Aloe Vera also helps to reduce inflammation, redness, and itching of the vagina which is due to yeast infection. You can use aloe vera gel in the fresh form on vagina directly, two times a day. Also, you can prepare an aloe vera juice by mixing 2 tablespoon aloe vera in one glass orange or any other citrus fruit juice. Sip it daily for a week at least and your vaginal thrush will never return.

Using Tea tree oil for vaginal thrush is effective as it is one of the most famous essential oils that have an antiseptic property too. it is highly efficient to get rid of the yeast, fungi, and bacteria. However, like apple cider vinegar, it is highly harsh for the skin for direct use. Always dilute it before using it. take one cup water and add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil in it. mix it well and use this solution for a vaginal wash, 2-3 times a day. You can also add a few drops of tea tree oil in your regular hot baths to avoid the infection for long.

Try Garlic

Garlic is the nature’s best anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory. It is a common kitchen ingredient which is available at home, most of the times. Not many of people know that garlic treats vaginal thrush. The natural antimicrobial property of garlic reduces the excessive yeast and make it reach the natural level. Take a clean, raw garlic clove. Peel it and cut into half. rub it to the vagina and vulva. You can also use garlic water for vaginal wash. Make this water by boiling garlic cloves into the water.
