How to Get Rid of Body Odor Naturally

It is natural for our bodies to sweat in hot temperatures, or after workouts; the odor of the sweat is also normal but of course nobody wants to live with that particular body odor all the time. Occasional body odor is acceptable but having that foul smell attached to your skin is not only discomforting for other but it is a source of embarrassment for yourself.

  1. Lemon Juice to Kill the Odor

Sounds strange right? Lemon juice is very effective in doing away with body odor. Lemon juice has astringent properties that not only kill the bad bacteria in the sweat, but also helps in regulating normal PH levels of the skin. As a result the bacteria that produce odor in the sweat is terminated efficiently the body odor is significantly reduced.

All You Need To Do…

There are two ways you can use lemon juice to get rid of body odor.

One is that you can dilute juice of one lemon with equal amounts of water (preferably rose water) and then dab a cotton in it and apply it to your underarm pits, and even the groin if that stinks too. Do this every time after you take shower, and at night before going to bed.

Another way of using this remedy is to mix the juice of two large lemons in a mug full of water. After you are done taking shower, rinse your body with this zesty water. Remember not to dry your body with a towel afterward, let it evaporate on its own.

  1. Baking Soda Anti-Perspirant

Baking soda is also beneficial in maintaining optimal PH levels of the skin and creating a hostile environment for bacteria to survive on the surface of your dermal layer. So yes Baking Soda is an effective and natural anti-bacterial agent. The odor our body produces is a result of microbial activity in our sweats; therefore the only way to get rid of body odor is to kill the microbes. So Baking Soda Anti-Perspirant is something you should have with you the entire summers.

All You Need To Do…

In a tablespoon of corn starch add a tablespoon of baking soda and mix it thoroughly. You can make it in large quantity using the same ratio of ingredients and store it in a jar. After you take shower, pat dry your underarms completely and then apply this anti-perspirant powder on your pits. The cornstarch with absorb the sweats while baking soda will kill the odor producing bacteria.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar

Just like lemon, Apple Cider Vinegar also aids in reducing body odor by regulating optimal PH levels. The added benefit of Apple Cider Vinegar is that is also anti-bacterial in nature. So it directly kills the bacteria on your skin that can make your sweat stinky.

All You Need To Do…

Apple Cider vinegar should be taken three times a day after every meal, in a glass of lukewarm water. Adding some honey to this beverage will further add to the benefits.

You can also soak cotton swabs in Apple Cider Vinegar and then apply them on your underarm pits, 15 minutes before going for bath.

Another way of bringing ACV to use is to add one cup of apple cider vinegar to your bath tub, filled with water. And soak in it for about 15 to 20 minutes every day.

  1. Witch Hazel

Since the body odor is a result of microbial activity; the bacteria on our skin feeds on the sweat our skin glands produce and this consequently produces awful smell and stink. So in order to get rid of body odor it is crucial to eliminate these bacteria from your skin. Applying Witch Hazel is effective in normalizing skin’s PH levels, due to which it becomes difficult for the bacteria to survive and they eventually die. Ultimately you are left odor free.

Soak cotton swabs in witch hazel and then rub your underarm pits, and even the groin with it. Let it dry on its own and voila! You can also use a deodorant afterwards to feel more refreshed and scented.

  1. Tomato as a Deodorant

Tomato has anti septic properties and it contains vitamin C, which is essential for boosting skin’s immunity in order to fight free radicals as well as microbial infestations. Tomatoes are killers when it comes to eliminating body odor.

Extract juice of ripe tomatoes and apply this to your underarms and groin, and then rinse it after 15 minutes. You can even attend the famous La Tomatina Festival in Spain…just kidding!

  1. Turnip Juice to Kill the Stink

Turnip juice is very famous in the Ayurveda to get rid of body odor. It contains compounds that kill bacteria in the sweat and refresh your skin’s scent.

All You Need To Do…

Extract juice of one large turnip and with the help of cotton balls apply it to your underarms. Let it dry and after 15 minutes take shower with cool water.

  1. The Alum Treatment

Alum contains minerals that not only absorb the sweat but they are also anti-bacterial in nature. Hence they terminate the odor producing bacteria on our body and help in getting rid of body odor effectively. It also reduces production of excessive sweat by sealing the pores of your skin for the time being.

All You Need To Do…

In a cup of lukewarm water dissolve a tablespoon of alum powder. Let it come to room temperature. Now by dipping cotton balls apply this mixture to the areas emitting odor. This method should be used twice a day after you take a shower.
